What is personal finance?
Personal financial numeracy focuses on the skills young people need to manage their money and make simple financial decisions. They learn about everyday financial issues and situations, and apply their developing skills to making choices about what how to respond. They work with everyday, familiar experiences, such as shopping, financial transactions, travel, earning income, spending and saving money.
As students develop their knowledge and skills, they can begin to apply them to real world scenarios. They can work individually or in small groups, sharing their ideas and collaborating to find the best solution. This gives them experience in considering a range of choices and points of view, before choosing the solution which is a good fit for their own life.
