Participate in Travel Activities VU23036 is a core unit within the Certificate 1 in Transition Education and is ideal for building independent travel skills for older students with disabilities. These resources provide learners with the tools they need to master the knowledge and skills for travel activities in the community with support. The unit is outcomes focused and ready to go, with information, planning, examples, activities and reflection tools that are age appropriate and suitable for students with lower literacy levels.
 
The marking guide will give you the tools you need to teach, mark and assess your transition students as they work through the skills they need to:
learn about types of travel in their communuity
plan a simple trip to a familiar or less familiar location
find information about destinations
plan a trip
organise their belongings
allow enough time for their trip
participate in a travel activity with support
practise using maps, timetables, online information and journey planners
learn when and how to ask for help
reflect on their experiences and learning

How does it work?
Give students a copy of the learner guide. Work through the learner guide information and activities as a group or in small groups. Have students complete the ongoing activities and learning tasks in the guide as well as the final assessment tasks at the end of the unit.
Use the marking guide to help you mark each learner guide - there are benchmark answers to help you.
Use the mapping document to check what is covered in each of the activities and assessment tasks.
